The 2 baht is a mid-range coin of the Thai baht coinage. This silver-coloured type, introduced in 2005, is struck in nickel-clad steel, replacing the earlier golden 2 baht and giving it a bright white colour, a light feel and a plain edge. It circulates for everyday change alongside the other baht and satang coins.
On the obverse appears a portrait of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX, shown facing left in uniform, with a Thai inscription of his name and titles around the rim.
On the reverse, the coin depicts a Buddhist temple — the Golden Mount at Wat Saket in Bangkok — set on its hill, with the value shown in Thai numerals and script and the year of issue. The design forms part of the series showing important temples of Thailand.
