About Thai Baht Exchange

The Thai Baht (THB) is the official currency of Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations for British travellers. We accept all denominations of Thai Baht banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.

Current Thai Baht Banknotes

Thailand’s current banknote series features a range of denominations, all prominently featuring the Thai monarchy and produced with modern security features including watermarks, security threads, and colour-shifting ink. We accept all current Thai Baht banknotes, including the 500 Baht note and the 1,000 Baht note, as well as smaller denominations such as the 20 and 50 Baht notes. Whether you’ve returned from Bangkok or Chiang Mai with a mixture of notes, we’ll exchange whatever you have.

Old Series & Damaged Notes

Unlike most high street exchanges, we also accept older and withdrawn Thai Baht banknotes, including the 50 Baht note issued in 2004 and the 100 Baht note issued in 2004. Damaged notes are accepted provided they remain at least 50% intact, though the rate offered may be slightly lower than for undamaged currency. If you’re unsure whether your notes qualify, send them in and we’ll assess them on your behalf.

Thai Baht Coins

We accept Thai Baht coins across a range of denominations, including the 10 Baht coin and smaller values such as the 1 Baht coin. Because coins are more costly to process and transport than banknotes, the exchange rate offered is slightly lower, but it’s far better than leaving them unused. Thailand neighbours other popular destinations, so if you also have leftover Malaysian Ringgit or Vietnamese Dong from the same trip, we can exchange those too.

Thai Baht Exchange FAQ

Do you accept both old and new Thai Baht banknotes?

Yes, we accept Thai Baht banknotes from multiple series, including older designs that have since been withdrawn from circulation in Thailand. Older notes are exchanged at a slightly reduced rate compared to current series notes, but there is no need to worry if you’re unsure which series your notes belong to — simply send them in and we’ll identify them for you.

Can I exchange Thai Baht coins as well as banknotes?

Yes! We accept Thai Baht coins including denominations such as the 1, 2, 5, and 10 Baht coins. The rate for coins is slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional handling involved, but we are one of the few services in the UK that will take them at all.

My Thai Baht notes are a bit worn and crumpled — will you still exchange them?

Yes, we accept damaged and worn Thai Baht banknotes, provided they are at least 50% intact. Unlike many high street bureaux de change, we do not turn away notes simply because they are creased, torn, or faded. Notes in very poor condition may be exchanged at a slightly lower rate, reflecting the difficulty in processing them.

How do I send my Thai Baht to you and when will I be paid?

Simply box up your Thai Baht — whether leftover from a holiday in Thailand or tucked away in a drawer for years — and post it to us yourself using whichever postal method you prefer. Once we receive and verify your currency, payment is made within 5 working days via bank transfer or PayPal. If you’re not happy with our offer, we’ll return your currency free of charge.

Can I exchange Thai Baht at a UK bank or post office?

Most UK banks and post offices will not exchange Thai Baht, particularly coins or older withdrawn series banknotes. Thailand is a hugely popular destination for British tourists, but the Baht is not widely traded on the UK high street, making specialist services like ours the most practical option for converting leftover currency back into sterling.
