The half dinar is a subsidiary coin of the Tunisian dinar, worth 500 millimes. This piece belongs to the series first issued in the 1980s, struck in a copper-nickel alloy that gives it a silvery colour, a firm feel and a reeded edge.

On the obverse appears an outline map of Tunisia at the centre, encircled by the Arabic legend naming the Republic of Tunisia, with the year of minting at the foot.

On the reverse, a pair of stylised hands is shown — one holding an olive branch and the other cradling olives — a motif evoking peace and the country’s agriculture, with the value “½” beneath and an Arabic inscription for the Central Bank of Tunisia around the rim.
