It is made of brass, weighs 7.5 g and measures 27 mm in diameter, with a round shape. As a low-value everyday denomination struck over many decades, it saw very extensive circulation. Its brass composition gave it a warm golden tone and the durability needed for constant handling.
The obverse carries an inscription and the dates within the central circle. The legend is in Arabic script and names the “Central Bank of Tunisia”, with the dates given as “1997 – 1418”.
