2 Millimes — Cork Oak Tree (Issued 1960)
The 2 Millimes is a withdrawn circulation coin of Tunisia issued in 1960. It is made of aluminium, weighs just 1 g and measures 21 mm in diameter, with a round shape. As one of the smallest everyday denominations, its very light aluminium construction was characteristic of minor coinage. It has since been withdrawn from circulation.
The obverse depicts an oak tree, identified as a cork oak (Quercus suber). The legend is in Arabic script and names the “Central Bank of Tunisia”.
The reverse shows the value within olive sprigs. The inscription, in Arabic script, reads “Two Millimes”.
