The 200 millimes is a circulating denomination of the Tunisian currency, part of the millime system in which 1,000 millimes make up one dinar, so this coin equals one fifth of a dinar. It is struck in a brass alloy with a warm golden colour and made in a distinctive eleven-sided shape, its faceted outline making it easy to recognise by touch among other coins.
On the obverse, an Arabic inscription for the Central Bank of Tunisia is set within a central circle, accompanied by dual Gregorian and Islamic dates, the whole framed by a flowing arabesque scroll border that follows the faceted edge.
On the reverse, a large numeral “200” fills the centre above an Arabic inscription reading “two hundred millimes”, surrounded by a ring of stylised palmette and leaf motifs radiating inward within a beaded border.
