This five dinar coin is a bimetallic issue of the Tunisian dinar, the currency of Tunisia, combining a golden-coloured outer ring with a paler cupronickel centre. The two-colour construction and large diameter mark it out as the highest-value circulating coin of its series, and the piece carries the dual Gregorian and Islamic dating used on modern Tunisian coinage. The Arabic legend “الجمهورية التونسية” (the Tunisian Republic) curves around the top, olive branches rise on either side, and the paired years “2002 · 1423” appear at the foot.

On the reverse, a portrait of President Habib Bourguiba faces left in the inner disc. An Arabic legend runs above the bust, small stars are ranged down the golden ring on each side, and the dates “2000 · 1903” are inscribed beneath the portrait, with the numeral “5” and the Arabic word for dinar at the very foot.
