The State of Qatar issued Qatari Riyal coins in different denominations. Included in this series of Qatari Riyal coins is this Qatar (Hamad) 25 dirhams coin. These 0.25 QAR coins were first issued by the State of Qatar in 1973 and remain in circulation in Qatar.
This 25 Qatar dirhams coin is copper-nickel and weighs 3.5g. On the obverse side is the old emblem of Qatar consisting of a sailing ship (dhow) sailing on waves beside an island with two palm trees. The revere side shows the denomination and words ‘STATE OF QATAR’.
