1 Hryvnia — Volodymyr the Great, Nickel-Plated Steel (Issued 2018-2025)
The 1 Hryvnia is a current circulation coin of Ukraine issued from 2018 onward. It is struck in nickel-plated steel, which gives it a bright silvery finish over a durable steel core, and it is a compact piece weighing 3.3 g and measuring 18.9 mm in diameter. Round in shape, it forms part of the modern Ukrainian Hryvnia coinage used in everyday transactions. Its steel-based composition reflects the durable, cost-effective materials favoured for present-day circulating coins.
The obverse displays the Ukrainian trident emblem, the “Tryzub”, set over a large numerical denomination within a decorative wreath. The legend reads “УКРАЇНА 1 ГРИВНЯ 2018” (Ukraine 1 Hryvnia 2018), combining the country name, the value and the year.
The reverse bears the face of Volodymyr the Great, with the legend “ВОЛОДИМИР ВЕЛИКИЙ” (Volodymyr the Great) identifying the figure portrayed.
