200 Hriven’ Hryvnia / Karbovanets (Issued 2007-2014)

The 200 Hriven’ banknote was issued during Ukraine’s period of post-independence currency development, following the nation’s transition away from Soviet monetary systems. This denomination formed part of the National Bank of Ukraine’s modernised banknote series introduced in the early twenty-first century. The note represents Ukraine’s continued efforts to establish a distinct and secure currency identity during a period of economic reform and European integration initiatives. The 2007-2014 issue period marks a significant chapter in contemporary Ukrainian financial history.

On the front, the banknote features a portrait of a historical female figure positioned on the left side of the note, rendered in purple and violet tones characteristic of the series’ colour palette. The portrait is finely engraved with considerable detail, showing the subject wearing period costume with ornamental embroidery visible at the neckline. Behind and to the right of the portrait lies an architectural composition in muted pink and cream tones, depicting ornate buildings with classical detailing. The denomination “200” appears prominently in large numerals in the lower right corner, also rendered in purple. The text “УКРАЇНА” and “НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК України” appear across the top in dark purple typography. A security strip runs vertically through the design. The note displays intricate guilloché patterning in red and geometric designs on the left margin, creating a decorative border. Additional numerical denomination marking appears on the far left edge of the note.

The reverse features a white stork in flight, depicted with outstretched wings and detailed feather work in red and pink tones against the pale pink background. To the right stands a tower structure, rendered in grey-blue and purple, featuring crenellated battlements and architectural definition consistent with Ukrainian historical fortifications. The denomination “200” appears in large numerals in the lower corners of the note, positioned in dark purple. Text reading “Київ 2007” identifies the place and year of issue. Ornamental script reading “Дніст річення” appears in cursive styling in the upper portion. A serial number “AA7893782” is printed in the upper left area. The overall design maintains the pale pink base colour with security features and microprinting integrated throughout the reverse design.
