The 200 dong was a low-value coin of the Vietnamese dong, part of the short-lived circulating coinage introduced in 2003. Struck in nickel-plated steel, it has a silvery colour, a light feel and a plain edge. Vietnamese coins saw only limited use and largely disappeared from everyday circulation within a few years.

On the obverse appears the national emblem of Vietnam — a golden star above a cogwheel and sheaves of rice — with the legend “CỘNG HÒA XÃ HỘI CHỦ NGHĨA VIỆT NAM” (Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the year 2003.

On the reverse, the value is given as a large “200 ĐỒNG”, with the name of the issuing State Bank of Vietnam, “NGÂN HÀNG NHÀ NƯỚC VIỆT NAM”, around the rim.
