Issued by the Central Bank of Armenia on 22 November 2018 as part of the third series of the Armenian dram — released to mark the 25th anniversary of the national currency — the 1,000 Dram note honours Paruyr Sevak (1924–1971), one of the most beloved Armenian poets of the twentieth century. His finely engraved portrait dominates the front of the note, set against a warm violet and purple ground with layered background imagery evoking his literary world. The issuing authority, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, is inscribed in Armenian script along the upper border, while the denomination “1000” and the words “ՀԱԶԱՐ ԴՐԱՄ” (one thousand dram) appear in bold type. Printed by Giesecke+Devrient on the durable Hybrid substrate — a cotton core protected within a polyester film — the note combines fine-line intaglio engraving with modern optically variable ink and guilloché security features.

The reverse is devoted to Sevak’s enduring legacy, depicting the poet’s house in the village of Zangakatun — today preserved as the Paruyr Sevak House-Museum — together with a sculpted statue of the writer. The composition follows the guiding principle of the whole series: the celebrated Armenian appears on the front, while the reverse illustrates the tangible proof of their contribution to Armenian history and culture. The violet-toned palette carries across from the front, with the denomination numeral “1000” repeated in the corners and the bank’s name inscribed in Armenian along the upper margin.
